Novice Junior (5)

This day started out wet from a good rain the night before and caused us to get about 30 minutes late start on practice but for whatever reason the track came in and turned black fast and we had some awesome racing and a few records set or broken.

Austin Billops in Junior Champ broke a record that was almost a year old in that class. And in Junior Animal we now have an official record in that class and Brandon Moore owns the first record in the class. Michael Harville broke a two year record in our new Open class.

But this day was about new faces, and a black track, and a really fun time as it should have been. This season will see numerous brother-sister and brother-brother race teams. We have father son teams already and it just continues to grow and grow. It is going to be an awesome year for sure.

We had an accident when the R90 driven by Richard Ewing, got into the wall and Richard was attended to by the EMT's. I checked yesterday on Richard and he is sore but he did not sustain any injuries and is ready to get back to racing.  We sometimes over look this is a dangerous sport to a certain degree and we also over look how important the safety equipment is to all of us. Richard is doing ok because his safety equipment *worked*; and our goal is to make it work for all our racers and fans.

Last season Cody Caldwell couldn't buy a first place finish, and tonight he got two, not only two, but they were back to back wins. He was awesome on the track.  It is just a precursor to what is in store this season. The competition level is stepping up once again, and so are the racers. It sure has changed in the last ten years.

All you got to do is go thru the racers listed here and you will see the changes taking place. So many new names, so many young racers starting out with us. I am so proud of that. Sure we have some of our regulars still with us but as we grow and as the time goes by, new faces and new families come out and decide to race with us, and be a part of our season.

We are ready for the points season to get under way. The track is still green, but it wont be long until its ready for record breaking times to be ran on it. 2005 will be our best season yet.

This is Easter week, and I hope everyone will reflect a little in their own chosen way the powerful meaning of this holiday week. In this troublesome time we live in, we shouldn't forget how we got here, and how we should live our life in return for the gift that is our life.

No matter what,  we are all in this together.
