Three
consolation races; 176 entries, a half built scoring tower, stale humid weather,
and a fast track made for some awesome, three wide at times, racing in this, the
largest kart count Atoka Raceway Park has ever seen. And we did it all by
12:50am, and was delayed over 30 minutes starting, and we had a power failure
that took another 15 minutes.
We had
first time winners, Lane Templeton, and Cole Ward in our Junior Novice Class.
Brian Malone, took the top honor in the Stock Heavy Survivor Series Race, a
one-caution-feature with some awesome close racing green-to-checker.
We also had a
vandal. A night full of fun and intense racing had to be marred by the action of
one individual who took his frustrations out on our new Men's bathroom
facilities, ripping a stall door off its hinges, and doing damage to the
fixtures in the room. We have worked very hard over the last six months to
upgrade our facility and this un-called-for act will not go unnoticed and as
soon as eyewitness accounts are documented, we will take appropriate action.
But this
action will not deter our conviction to bring you the best in short dirt track
kart racing in the mid-south area.
We
appreciate everyone's support, and we hope you will continue to race with us at
ARP for the remainder of the 2002 season!!!

Holder of Holder Boys Racing, took the checkered flag once again in the

*We
had a strange situation happen on the checkered flag lap. The caution
light was displayed due to a spin out and confused some drivers. We have
decided to take the third, fourth, and fifth place points, combine them
and give out three equal sets of points due to the confusion and to be
fair to the racers involved. |
