What its all about!!!!

Any Questions????

It was an interesting night of racing. We had 128 entries, and we were through by just after 12. We had some last lap crashes that made for some very tense moments but we had some awesome racing on a very smooth track and not as dusty as we have had.

We also had some stiff competition from the other end of the state.  The night race at Bristol was on the TV and we had a few satellite dishes up and running to watch all the action.

We sure have come a long way from hauling our karts and parts in the back of our pickup trucks, huh?

Tell me that's not carpet on the floor?????

About the races......

A lot of mixed emotions from this one. We had some hard contact, some last lap crashes, and some bad moments for decisions to be made quickly. There were some problems both on and off the track. There were calls made that could have gone either way and some I wish I could have had over to try and make a decision on how to find a better solution. Both the staff AND the racers, have work to do to do better at what we all are out there for; that is to race, keep it as safe as possible, and have fun and learn, and go home saying to ourselves "we did the best we can".  This one made the drive home miserable; for me anyway.

But still the night was full of excitement and hard racing. I mean, look at the Over 35 Class. 12 entries qualifying within .374 seconds. These are *older*??? racers??? And I have total respect for the age of all of them. The qualifying was awesome. The race was hard, but the oldest racer (I think) out there won, Ronald Dix, and is leading the points!!! To me that says a lot not only for him but for the track and how hard we try to prepare it for racing.

The quickest time of the event??? An 11.962, by Mark Pasino, 14 years old, I think, and look at the class he is running in! Junior 3! The points standings are TIED. Samantha Gargus, and Brent Rowell are tied after 9 events?

Next season a lot of juniors will move up into other classes. Some into faster junior classes, and some into adult classes. Watching them running now and how well they are doing only makes for greater anticipation of next season. The possibilities are endless. The expectations are out there for them to take to the next level. And some of us, get to do what we do now, and that is to be a part of watching them grow, and being a part of what we love to do and that is to race.

Have a safe and happy Labor Day weekend, and we will see you on the 6th!!!

Danny Davis
