Novice Junior (2)

What an awesome night of racing. The weather was perfect for a change and the racers and fans were outstanding. We had a lot of first time visitors and racers to our track. Pictured here is first time ever racer, Richard Ewing, who came out to the track Friday night for a bit of practice and then got his first feature win in our Junior Novice Class. I wish you could see the smile under that helmet. It was priceless!!

We had racers from Optimists Park in Little Rock come race with us and we also had a group headed by Johnny Brady of Adventure Speedway in central Mississippi come race and we do appreciate all our out of town fans and racers. Glynn Neal came away with a victory in the Super Heavy Class, and Glynn is from Adventure Speedway.

118 entries was awesome in itself but the number of champ kart entries continues to dominate our program. Fifty (50) Champ entries. That's a staggering fact that we are so proud of in all our classes. We are also proud of the Sixty-Eight open kart entries, but the amazing number of champs continue to grow in our area and its just so awesome to  see the interest in kart racing.

Our Survivor Series Race was finally won by Jason Moss who has been struggling to conquer this race for the last 5 years.

Morgan Turpen won her second straight in the Junior 1 Class and continues to show a level of concentration on the track that really stands out.  And on Friday night practice, she was helping out new comer Richard Ewing to learn a quick line around the track.  I got a chance to *hang out* in Morgan's and Richard's pit for a few moments this past race and was truly amazed at the dedication displayed on kart prep, and cleaning the karts and just focused hard work. I don't want to take ANY THING away from any of our racers, as they all are dedicated, but watching Morgan and Richard working on their respective karts, was just good to see that kind of dedication. A note here if I may.....they were not preparing them for the next race of the night, they had already won their features. They were just preparing them for the trip home. To me, that's total involvement.

What a battle it was in the Aqua Champs, as Troy Dow and Tyler Smith played bump and tag and did all they could and in the end It was Tyler Smith taking the win, but Troy Dow had the kart to beat with the quickest time as this class just gets better and better each race.

Who is that in that 24 champ kart?....It was Colin Stephenson coming back and taking a well  earned victory in the Purple Champs. Colin is a veteran of ARP and it was so good to see him grab another victory.

In the Jr2 Gold class, it was Hollis Belton in the right place at the right time to grab this victory. Hollis and Joey Lunati took advantage of a late race caution to battle it out for this win.

Lindsey Prewitt, Justin Rochelle, Justin Carver, Josh Boaz, Wade Massey, Jake Tucker and Don Young were repeat winners this race......and returning to race again was Derek Medlock in our Junior Champs.

Top say the least, it was a great night of racing!!

It will be this weekend too as the Aqua Champs battle it out for their Survivor Series Race!!!
