It has been
such a great year for our *family* of racers at Atoka Raceway Park. I
have seen some of the most awesome racing I have ever witnessed and I
am so proud to be a part of the dedication that brings us all the
opportunity to experience this level of kart racing to our area. But
what has been such a privilege to see, is the *family* participation
we see week in and week out at ARP.
Sometimes we take for granted how
special it is to have your family there and cheering you on. But we
can't let ourselves forget how fortunate we are in being able to do
what we do. We are such a powerful family of racers at ARP and I want
to use that awesome power to maybe give back, or to perhaps make this
world a little better for some families who find them selves in a
position of grave circumstance, far, far from the excitement and joy
we share and offer at our facility.
One of my favorite institutions that
accepts donations of all kinds, is a house built by compassion and
love, to support families while their children are getting treatment
at St Judes Children's Research
Hospital, and that house is
The Ronald McDonald House of Memphis. Imagine your child
undergoing cancer treatment, you're not from the Memphis area, and
having to stay in a motel or hotel? The Ronald McDonald House provides
housing, eating and cooking facilities; playrooms, and a host of other
activities and comforts that make a family's stay during such a trying
time, somewhat easier to cope with concerning the reality of just why
they are here.
And *we* can help, and it is my goal
to do just that.
At our banquet, we will
be taking *any* donations of items that this special place needs to
function on a daily basis. Items needed most are located on their
website at
http://www.rmhmemphis.org/wishlist.htm . Anything you can
help us out on will go far beyond what I can place here in words.
Spend some time at the
R.M.H. Website and see what a
special place it really is. Think about what the parents of those
kids, and the kids themselves must go thru day after day. They
didnt ask for the situation they were handed, but it is up to people
like us to help make their world a little better while they deal with
the horrors of a sick child. Please help us give a little back to some
families of sick children who would give anything to be able to enjoy
our facility as we do.
